Area Police
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism left him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
