The star has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to save the Britain's independent music venues.

He was given the award on 16 October as his latest record the album was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in recognition of the crucial part local spots had in his early career.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the performances I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said the artist. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly 16 percent of the total UK scene.

Over the past year, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which supports independent venues.

He also participated, generating in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to support 38 local spots across the UK.

The money supported locations that were facing imminent closure due to issues arising from floods, fires and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Other venues received monetary aid in modernizing infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The idea that money from shows in large arenas helps the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

Fender is far from the only musician to give his honor funds to good deeds.

When the band received the award in the mid-90s for their record the album, lead singer Jarvis Cocker announced that the band would donate their cash to the non-profit War Child.

In 2002, rapper and singer the artist shared her bounty among multiple good causes, including the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," the artist explained to outlets.

In recent years, Ezra Collective donated their winnings to the local youth club that developed their group, in addition to other independent music bodies.

And the 1994 recipients they donated their award to a charity for MS after a friend was diagnosed the illness.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked singer Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected a couple of small stages in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and the second in that location were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who buy "shares" in the venues.
